St. Colmcille’s Church

The facade and architectural brief for this complex remedial project, was to remove and replace the original non-performing single glazing to both the vertical curtain walling and the sloped rooflight glazing to all three porches, and replace with high performance insulated glass units.

To increase the natural ventilation within the porch areas, a number of Lacker Big Air 300 glass louvres were installed into the curtain walling framing. The Lacker Big Air 300 glass louvres are connected to the BMS which operates under the guidance of a roof top weather station, which dictates when the glass louvres open and close, all dependant on local weather conditions, internal temperature, relative humidity and CO2 levels.
